Dear Queens Community,
My name is Pia Rahman. I am a native New Yorker, born to immigrant parents from Bangladesh, and a proud graduate of New York City’s public schools, CUNY, and SUNY. Like so many families, public institutions helped open doors for mine—and I believe they should continue to do so for every New Yorker.
Throughout my life, I have seen how policy decisions shape real outcomes. As a survivor of traffic violence in childhood and as a dietitian nutritionist during the pandemic at a COVID-only state hospital, I witnessed firsthand how leadership decisions affect safety, health, and dignity. Those experiences pushed me to organize and fight for change, including my work with Team AOC and alongside progressive elected officials and candidates across New York.
Today, I am honored to serve on Queens Community Board 2, where I continue my commitment to community-centered governance.
I am running for a better New York—one that invests in people, treats workers with dignity, and ensures access to affordable housing, quality healthcare, strong public education, and a living wage for all. My core values are equity, accountability, and solidarity. I believe in building power with communities and ensuring government serves people, not special interests.
New York is my only home—my forever home. It would be an honor to represent Queens in the New York State Assembly.
In solidarity,
Pia Rahman
